Can You Really Send 100,000 WhatsApp Messages?
Yes. The WhatsApp Business API supports high-volume messaging — but getting there requires your account to climb through Meta's messaging tier system. You cannot send 100,000 messages on day one. Here is exactly how it works and how to reach that scale using Tenreply.
How WhatsApp Messaging Tiers Work
Meta uses a tiered throughput system based on phone number quality and volume history. Every new API phone number starts at Tier 1:
| Tier | Unique business-initiated conversations / 24 hours |
|---|---|
| Tier 1 (new number) | 1,000 |
| Tier 2 | 10,000 |
| Tier 3 | 100,000 |
| Tier 4 | Unlimited |
Your number moves up automatically when you reach 80% of the current tier's limit within a rolling 7-day window and your quality rating stays GREEN or YELLOW.
What Is a "Business-Initiated Conversation"?
The tier limit applies to conversations you start — sending a template message to a customer who has not messaged you in the last 24 hours. If a customer messages you, you can reply freely within the 24-hour window and it does not count against your tier limit.
Getting from 1,000 to 100,000: A Realistic Timeline
- Start sending at your current tier — use well-targeted contact lists (opted-in, recently active customers)
- Monitor your quality rating — available in Tenreply dashboard (Settings → WhatsApp → Phone Status) and in Meta Business Manager. If it drops to RED, you are at risk of messaging limits
- Avoid blocks and complaints — only send to contacts who have opted in; use relevant, personalised templates
- Wait for automatic tier upgrade — typically 5–10 days at each tier level if quality remains green
How to Send a 100,000-Message Broadcast in Tenreply
Once your number has reached Tier 3:
- Go to Broadcasts → New Broadcast
- Import your contact list (CSV) or select by tag
- Choose an approved template and fill in personalisation variables
- Schedule or send immediately
- Monitor delivery, read rates, and replies in real time
Tenreply handles the API rate limiting automatically — you do not need to throttle or batch the sends yourself.
Protecting Your Quality at Scale
- Use meaningful opt-in signals — customers who signed up for updates or made a purchase
- Personalise with variables — {{name}}, {{order_id}}, {{amount}} dramatically reduce "block" taps
- Segment tightly — send only to contacts for whom the message is relevant
- Include opt-out language — "Reply STOP to unsubscribe" reduces complaint rates
- Retarget, don't spam — use Tenreply's retargeting feature to reach only non-openers
The Shortcut That Does Not Exist
There is no way to bypass the tier system legitimately. Any tool claiming to send 100,000 messages from a new number immediately is using unofficial methods — and your number will be banned before the campaign finishes. Build your quality score. It takes 2–4 weeks to reach Tier 3 responsibly, and the asset you build (a high-quality, tier-3 number with a clean reputation) is worth protecting.
