How to Create a Meta Catalog and Connect It to Tenreply

Create an E-commerce catalog in Meta Commerce Manager, link it to your WhatsApp number, connect it in Tenreply and send products in chat, step by step.

Before You Start

Tenreply can send your products inside WhatsApp chats, so a customer sees the photo, price and details without leaving the conversation. WhatsApp only shows products that live in a Meta catalog, so the catalog has to exist in Meta first. Tenreply then keeps your products in sync with it.

You need three things:

  • a Meta business portfolio (Business Manager) that you're an admin of
  • your WhatsApp number already connected to Tenreply
  • a direct image link for each product you want to sync

Step 1: Create an E-commerce Catalog

  1. Go to Meta Commerce Manager and pick your business portfolio at the top left.
  2. Click Add catalog.
  3. Choose E-commerce (online products).
  4. Choose Upload product info, select your business, and click Create.

The catalog type matters. Only an E-commerce catalog can hold products and be used for WhatsApp product messages. Travel, hotel, vehicle and property catalogs won't work. Tenreply checks this when you connect a catalog and tells you if it's the wrong type.

Step 2: Copy the Catalog ID

Open the catalog in Commerce Manager. The Catalog ID is the long number in the address bar after /catalogs/, and it's also under Settings → Catalog, with a copy button.

Step 3: Link the Catalog to Your WhatsApp Number

  1. Open WhatsApp Manager and choose your WhatsApp account.
  2. Go to Catalog and click Choose a catalog.
  3. Pick the catalog you just created and click Connect catalog.

Without this link, Tenreply can still sync products to the catalog, but WhatsApp won't let you send them in a chat.

Step 4: Connect the Catalog in Tenreply

  1. In Tenreply, open Catalog and click Connect Meta Catalog.
  2. Paste the Catalog ID.
  3. Leave the token field empty to use your connected WhatsApp access. If Tenreply says it can't reach the catalog, give it a system-user token that has catalog_management permission and is assigned to this catalog.
  4. Click Connect. Tenreply shows the catalog's name once it can reach it.

Step 5: Add Products and Sync

Add each product in Tenreply with a name, description, price, currency, availability and an image, then click Sync (or Sync all). The product appears in your Meta catalog within a few minutes.

Use a direct image link. Meta downloads the image itself, so the link must point straight at the image file. Right-click the image in your browser and choose Copy image address. It usually ends in .jpg, .png or .webp. Links to a web page, Google Drive or an Instagram post are rejected, and Tenreply will tell you so before it sends anything to Meta.

If you delete a synced product in Tenreply, it's removed from your Meta catalog too.

Step 6: Send Products in WhatsApp

Open a WhatsApp conversation in Tenreply and send one product, or a list of several. The customer sees the photo, price and a View button, and can ask about the item right in the chat.

Common Problems

  • "Catalogue item has wrong catalogue vertical": the catalog isn't E-commerce. Create an E-commerce catalog (Step 1) and connect that one instead.
  • "Meta requires a product image" or "Image could not be downloaded": add a direct image link (Step 5).
  • Products sync but can't be sent in chat: the catalog isn't linked to your WhatsApp number yet (Step 3).
  • "Meta cannot access catalog": check the Catalog ID, or use a system-user token that's assigned to the catalog (Step 4).

Once the catalog is connected, it stays in sync from Tenreply. Open your Catalog in Tenreply to get started, or read how to sell on WhatsApp with a product catalog for selling tips.
