Quick Answer
A Facebook Page does not appear or Messenger will not connect when you lack full control of the Page, when the Page is owned by a business portfolio you cannot access, when you did not tick the Page during the Meta permission screen, or when the Page is unpublished or restricted. Get full control on the Page, reconnect, select the Page explicitly and approve every permission.
Last checked October 2026. Meta renames menus and changes review rules often, so treat the steps as the path, and confirm the exact wording on screen against Meta's documentation.
The Page Access Problem
Facebook has two ways to hold access to a Page: directly on the Page (with a role or task access) or through a business portfolio. The connection flow only lists Pages your login can manage. A common situation is a Page that an agency or former employee set up inside a portfolio you are not part of.
- Open the Page and check Page access or Settings > Page setup > Page access to see who has control.
- If the Page belongs to a portfolio, check Business settings > Accounts > Pages in that portfolio.
- Ask a person with full control to add you, or to run the connection themselves.
Symptom to Fix
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Page missing from the list | No full control, or the Page was not selected in the Meta dialog | Get full control; reconnect and tick the Page. |
| Connected but no Messenger messages | Messaging permission declined or webhook not subscribed | Reconnect and approve every permission; check the Page is subscribed. |
| Messenger replies fail after a few days | Outside the messaging window | Messenger allows replies for 24 hours after the customer's last message; a human-agent tag can extend this to 7 days for human support. |
| Page unpublished or restricted | Page status | Publish the Page or resolve the restriction: restricted accounts. |
| Wrong Page connected | Selected the wrong one | Disconnect and reconnect with the correct Page. |
| Worked, then stopped | Role removed, password changed or token invalidated | Reconnect with an account that still has access. |
Tips That Prevent Re-Connection Pain
- Keep at least two people with full control of every Page, so one departure does not lock you out.
- Connect with a role-based identity rather than a personal account that may leave.
- Switch on two-factor authentication for everyone with Page control. See the account protection checklist.
- Document who owns which Page and which portfolio holds it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why can't I see my Facebook Page when I connect?
Your login does not have full control of it, or you did not select it in Meta's permission dialog.
Do I need a business portfolio to connect Messenger?
Not always, but if your Page is held in one, you need access there.
Can I reply to Messenger messages from last week?
Only within the messaging window rules. Outside it, you generally cannot send, apart from the human-agent exception.
Can I also publish to Facebook from the same place?
Yes. Tenreply supports scheduling and publishing posts to Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn: social publishing.
Bring Every Meta Channel Together
Connect your Page, Instagram account and WhatsApp number once, then answer everyone from a single inbox.
- Connect your number in Tenreply: Meta's Embedded Signup walks you through the WhatsApp Business Account, the number and the OTP in one popup, and Tenreply subscribes the webhook for you. If Meta does not return the IDs, enter them by hand on the same screen.
